Everett R. Rhoades, M.D. (Kiowa)
Dr. Rhoades is a retired physician and the former Assistant Surgeon General, Director of Indian Health Service. He served many years on the Kiowa Business Committee and was one of the founders of the Oklahoma City Indian Clinic and the Association of American Indian Physicians. He has a deep commitment to Indian people and the preservation of Indian people and their heritage.
Gloria Bellymule Zuniga, B.S.N (Southern Cheyenne)
Ms. Bellymule-Zuniga has deep roots in her Cheyenne heritage. Her family are Sundance people, her grandfather was a Sundance priest and her son is a leader of the Lizard clan of the Sundance. She has spent her nursing career working in the field of HIV/AIDS, educating and advocating for services for those afflicted with this disease. She was the first in her field to incorporate Indian spirituality into treatment modalities for HIV/AIDS patients.
Mr. Joseph “Bud” Sahmaunt, PhD (Kiowa)
Dr. Sahmaunt is a retired educator and the former Assistant Dean of Sports at the Oklahoma City University. He is also deeply rooted in his Kiowa traditions and is dedicated to the education of young Indian people.
Mr. Benjamin Harjo, BA (Seminole, Absentee Shawnee)
Mr. Harjo is a reknown artist who work is shown internationally. He shares his heritage through his artwork and works with children.
Ms. Shoshanna Wasserman, BA (Thlopthlocco Tribal Town, Muscogee Creek Nation)
Ms. Wasserman is the director of marketing & public relations for the American Indian Cultural Center & Museum under construction in Oklahoma City . Her commitment to the preservation of Indian traditions was instilled at an early age by her mother and grandfather and continues in her work with the museum and other community activities.
Pamela E. Iron, MEd (Cherokee, Laguna Pueblo)
Ms. Iron is an educator, a health advocate, a health administrator and a strong advocate for the preservation of Indian traditions and heritage.
